How I Cut My AI Costs in One Hour with t0md.com
Relax and live a little
If you’re doing any coding with AI, you already know how easy it is to burn money by pushing huge amounts of context through the system.
When you’re deep in coding mode, it’s usually worth it. But when you’re exploring, experimenting, or doing research, it’s not always clear when you’ve reached the right answer, so you want to minimize wasted tokens and effort.
I ran into this problem hard over the last few days, so I built a tool to fix it for myself (and now for everyone).
Here it is: t0md.com
The coolest part? I managed to grab another great 4-letter domain. I’ve had a knack for snagging short, memorable domains lately — including the super cool 3p1c.com.
What does t0md.com do?
It takes heavy documents (PDFs, Word files, etc.) and converts them into clean, lightweight Markdown.
Why is this useful?
- PDFs and Word docs are context-heavy when fed to AI.
- Markdown is just the essential text — much lighter and cheaper.
- Your AI can work with the content without bloating its context window.
You can use it directly on the web at t0md.com, or install it as an MCP server so any AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, OpenClaw, MicroClaw, ClawyLaw, whatever) can call it automatically whenever it needs to convert a document.
This keeps your agent’s context clean. You can even tell the agent to save the resulting Markdown locally without ever loading the heavy original into its memory.
It’s completely free right now. I’m excited to see how people use it.
The “Retard Maxxxing” Philosophy
This project is also a perfect example of something that’s been making the rounds lately: retard maxing — the art of stopping overthinking and just doing the thing.
I don’t drink or do drugs, but I’ve noticed the same pattern: when I relax and stop worrying so much, things flow better. When I overthink and grind too hard, progress stalls.
My previous project md2doc.com was build the same way; I just needed it , so I made it, and now it gets around 30 users per hour. postal.wtf on the other hand is a grind. I busted my ass off, it took 6 weeks and insane amount of hours, and I am struggling to get any of you to try it. I’ve literally built as much as a team with $75M in funding… an no one cares.
This new tool, t0md, it took me roughly an hour, and it’s already getting traffic just a few hours after launch.
Moral of the story: Just build the tool. Ship fast. Make things for yourself and other developers. You might be surprised how well it works.
If you’ve been stuck overthinking your ideas, maybe it’s time to relax, chill out, and give “retard maxing” a try.
Cheers,
ps. Maybe I should pull Steve Jobs level of retard maxxxing and find some LSD. Anyone knows anyone from the CIA ? I heard they started it…
p.p.s. If you’re a VC and you want to throw me $5M so I could just build everything possible in the known universe and beyond, I am here for it.
