Practical AI: Small Wins, Big Impact
Building a product with AI is like having a superpower. I can generate 100 actionable website improvements in a click, and then just ship a dozen of improvements by lunchtime. It’s absolute magic, and yet every day I am shocked by how few people are using AI in their business.
In this post, I want to share 3 tips on what I’ve been able to do to Breckworks in order to gain a massive business advantage, and these 3 things only took a few hours. You might need a little coffee, but you too can just do things!
Massive Page Speed Gains.
Page speed is one of the most important factors you can tweak in order to get more search traffic to your site on Google. Page Speed is how I got to the #1 spot for “coworking Breckenridge” when we first launched the business, even though my competitors were around for years, had a ton of funding, and were constantly buying ads for the term. I made a fast website and Google immediately gave me the spotlight.
How do you optimize your website at home?
Go to Google PageSpeed Insights, type in your own website, and just paste screenshots of all the problems directly into Claude Code, then sit back and relax, watch it do all the fixes. Periodically insist that it works harder, and harder, until all the work is complete.
We optimized desktop speed to 99/100 by basically watching Claude code.
Was I able to do this in one shot? No. But it didn’t take more than a few hours. A thing to watch out for: Claude loves to delete stuff. In fact, the most optimal way to achieve the best speed score is to have no content to score.
Important: use command “claude --dangerously-skip-permissions” to launch the app in autonomous mode, where it no longer asks you for permission to do things, it just plows through. Your computer will not explode (probably).Creative Content.
AI said that if I added a video to the landing page, it would help boost me in the search results (it did).
First, I walked through the space wearing the new Meta Oakley glasses, recorded a raw clip, and uploaded it to YouTube. No polish, no stress. Then, I asked AI to put that video on the landing page, but to do it in such a way that only a screenshot loads first, and then users get to see the video on-click. This way, the page still loads fast (see page speed note above).
To make the implementation even more useful, we added JSON-LD structured data to make the video AI-searchable. Now, when someone asks Google about “mountain cabins in Breckenridge coworking,” it pulls up a relevant clip from my video. That’s driving organic traffic with minimal effort. Google also added a link to Breckworks, right there on YouTube, without me even asking!
This works for Google, and this works for AI search too. See below. The whole task took 30 minutes, from making the video to adding it to the website. If you think this will take a long time, it’s only because you let it.
Do the minimal amount of work possible, then do less.SEO Optimization: Using our tools, I identified and implemented a number of other quick wins: from simple things like making sure the our GPS coordinates were included and tagged to a correct address, to content for keywords like “remote work Breckenridge” and “coworking near me.”
The AI created 20+ pages that are supposed to drive us traffic and keyword. The only thing I had to do was to manually review every one of those pages to make sure that content was good. Sometimes, I’d say 2/10, it wasn’t. Instead of spending time to make it better, I just deleted the pages. Just like with the video, we added JSON data (and a few other tricks) to make sure that AI bots start to pick up the content.
It’s too early to tell if it’s working as expected, but I can tell you that we’ve improved our Google position by 2x across all the pages, and guess what? If you compare to how much an SEO consultant would’ve charged you for this, to how much a “website admin” would have cost to do this, the total cost of these changes yourself is free! (or very-very expensive, if you count your time).
Look, I am not trying to brag here. I just want to show you that AI makes building things very accessible: You don’t need a big team or a budget to create something real. Tools like ours let you generate, test, and ship fast, but you can literally do all of this for near zero dollars, as long as you are willing to take some time.
Ask me questions, happy to help.
I’d write more, if I let AI do it, but instead I typed this out myself, like an idiot!
Cheers,
