Let your imagination run wild
Non-technical friends are asking me all the time — what can the AI do for me? Yes, lots of people are coding and building apps with it, but outside of chatting with ChatGPT, what can the AI do right now that will improve my life or business?
When faced with a question of what AI could do for you — you have to figure this out on your own. I can share my experiences, and show you the tools that get me excited. The way you figure out how to improve your life is by using all the tools that seem even remotely relevant. Find something that makes you feel better, or makes you more productive, or more intelligent, or maybe just add more entertainment to your life.
Let me tell you about Midjourney. You might love it!
Midjourney is a tool that lets you generate amazingly creative artwork using AI. I’ve used it for my websites, for this blog, for sharing content on X, and to just visualize things that I find hard to imagine.
You don’t have to have any skill, you don’t have to know how to draw, or even know how to hold a pencil. You just need to know how to express your desires.
As long as you can describe an image to a computer, the computer will make it for you. Last weekend I showed the tool to my kids, and they spent hours generating all kinds of images. They started with simple “image of a cow” type of prompt, but soon realized that the more details they can put into their request to AI, the better the output. You can get specific about styles, settings, camera angles, patterns, textures … you name it. Midjourney literally lets your imagination run wild.
As of today, they also offer image-to-video conversion, so you design could come alive! Here are a few videos, based on what my kids did last week.
